1. About these terms
These terms apply when you register, renew, transfer or manage a domain name through Walakulu. They form part of our Terms of Service. You must also follow the policies of the registry for your domain, such as the LK Domain Registry for .lk names and, for generic domains like .com, the policies of ICANN and the registry and registrar we use. If those policies conflict with these terms, the registry's policy applies to that conflict.
2. Our role
We act as a reseller and agent. We submit requests on your behalf to accredited registries and registrars. We do not own or operate any registry, and we are not responsible for a registry's decisions, delays, errors or rules.
The domain is registered in your name. You, or the organisation you name, are the registrant. We do not take ownership of your domain. Note that a domain registration is a right to use the name for a period, not ownership of the name.
3. Registration
A search result showing a name as available is not a guarantee. A registration is only complete when the registry accepts and activates it, and a registry may reject any application. Names are registered on a first come, first served basis.
Some names, including many .lk names, require supporting documents such as a business registration certificate, trademark certificate, NIC or passport. You must provide genuine documents. We can tell you what is needed and help you submit them, but approval is the registry's decision.
You are solely responsible for choosing a name that does not infringe anyone's trademark or other rights and is lawful to use.
4. Your details
You must give accurate, complete registrant and contact details and keep them current. Registries may publish some details in public directories (WHOIS or RDAP) or make them available to authorities and rights holders. Inaccurate details can lead to suspension or cancellation of your domain without refund. For generic domains, you must respond to email verification requests from the registrar.
5. Renewal and expiry
Domains are registered for a fixed term. If auto renew is on and we can charge your payment method, we renew before expiry. We send reminders, but renewing on time is your responsibility. If a domain expires it may stop working, be suspended, become subject to extra restoration fees set by the registry, or be deleted and registered by someone else. We are not liable for losses caused by a domain expiring.
6. Transfers
For generic domains, you may transfer your domain to another provider, subject to registry rules such as a 60 day lock after registration or a previous transfer, and to all fees being paid. For .lk domains, the LK Domain Registry does not allow a domain to be sold or transferred to another person or organisation; changes of registrant follow the registry's procedures.
7. Disputes and suspension
Disputes over a domain name are between you and the other party and are handled under the applicable dispute policy, such as ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy for generic domains and the LK Domain Registry's policies for .lk names. You agree to be bound by these policies. We may suspend, lock, transfer or cancel a domain if a registry, court or authority requires it, or to deal with abuse, fraud or non payment.
You agree to indemnify us, our providers and the registry against any claim relating to your domain name or its use, as set out in our Terms.
8. DNS and connected services
If you use our nameservers, changes you make to DNS records are your responsibility and can take time to spread across the internet. If you connect a domain you registered elsewhere, you are responsible for the settings at your other provider.
9. Fees
Domain fees vary by extension and are shown before you pay. They are not refundable once submitted to the registry, as set out in our Payments, Refunds and Cancellation Policy. Registries can change their prices; if they do, renewal prices may change.
10. Registrant rights
For generic domains, ICANN publishes the rights and responsibilities of registrants: Registrants' Benefits and Responsibilities.
